Walking in a winter wonderland… (in November but still, this is SL.)

Clear blogged before. I love when she blogs. She looks at the SL world with less congested eyes than me. Originally, when I was shooting these pictures (the first time, before I saw some hair on someone else’s blog that I wanted instead of the one I’d originally been wearing) I came up with a poem, flowing out as I walked around. It’s gone, but that doesn’t have to put a stop to me showing the awesomeness that is Winterstock. It’s a beautiful sim, I can even see that with my graphics on low. I wanted to give a feel of loneliness in the cold, using the silent hill windlight setting (which, again, am sure looks better on high or ultra) but I think with the help of the mini vodka bottle from Somethin’ in your Mouth helped a lot. Take a look. Maybe I’ll even include my style card, woop woop.

I’m a huge fan of skins. Just look in my inventory. I think I have over a hundred skins already and I’m still collecting. AtomicSparkle Skytower is a new skin designer and let me tell you, for a person who JUST STARTED making skins, they’re excellent. She has already updated her current skins and improved on the body shading and gloss options. Her style is to use photo realism and mix it with hand drawing textures to come up with a nice soft body. I stress to you again that this is her very first attempt at making skins.

Killer Post!

It’s that time again. Killer Post time. I’m still budgeting – - trying not to buy anything in SL I don’t actually want or need. In the process, I’m missing out on hairs I could have, clothes I could have and the lindens are slowly building up in my account. Awesome, right? Well, I was bored this morning, and I checked the feeds. Somebody, and I don’t remember who, but I praise you so much for doing it, blogged a drum bag and a guitar bag from Sey. Gasp, I thought to myself. That is something I need. There’ll be no shortage of use for it in my cyber-hand. I’ll take it everywhere with me; to shows, to stores, to parties. Guh, just guh. TPing right on over to the store, I had to wait for it to rez, and as soon as it had, had to hold back on buying the drum one too. I’m a guitar player, though, so it made more sense for me to get that one. They have four different sets for 380L each, 5 textures in each, and also 6 different ways to carry it. (It attaches to your left hand, or your spine.) And I don’t know, it’s awesome.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

There are exactly 50 days left until Christmas. Can you believe the year is almost up? I can’t. Personally I’m not a fan of Christmas shopping, but I love Christmas “Give me Presents now” time. I know that’s selfish but blame it on being an only child. I can’t wait until I get my first pay check in November so I can start buying giftcards (and only giftcards) for my family and friends. Gliteratti is already getting ready for the season by releasing a few goodies for Christmas. The Christmas Market sim is literally days away or it’s probably up right now because I’m kinda of slow when remembering things and the sweet Katey Coppola has released these amazing presents you can sit on for your Christmas pictures/cards as well as a brand new pose set Shane and I are modeling in the first picture. Also there’s a HUGE SALE going on at Gliteratti where most of her pose sets are for 100L. Plus her couples/group poses are 100L and her fatpacks are 50 percent off. Word on the SL street is that there’s a contest coming up and considering the last contest she had she gave over 100,000L in linden and prizes, this is going to be amazing.

Because we love Katey’s stuff and her poses cater our bodies almost perfectly (we’re little women!) We decided to put on some winter clothes, forget fall momentarily and head for winter. We’re not showcasing the clothes. It’s all about the Xmas-y poses that’s going to be coming to Gliteratti in the next few days. Shane is posing with the male gift box that has 5 poses that all you do is sit on and use the menu to shuffle through the poses, and I’m using the female version.

I love poses. No, really. I love poses more than chocolate, blue powerade and sex. (Well, almost.) Clear asked me to blog before she got home, so she’d have something to look at/read. I thought about it a while, and at first, I was going to blog the outfit I pieced together (something I’ll still do) then flipped through my pose stand to find some fresh ones. Stumbling across those that flowey sent the I Heart SL bloggers group the other day, I knew I had to use those, and so at the same time as blogging my outfit, I figured I’d plug this place too. I enjoy the bodies. No, really. I love bodies more than blue powerade, chocolate and pizza; especially when they move right. I’ve made some awful ones myself. The joints go everywhere, I look like a rat (see: Single Ladies post) and I don’t understand the limits of the human body enough to create them properly. Flowey does. Forgive me father for I have sinned. I haven’t blogged properly in over a few days because of something called laziness. It’s crept over inside of me and I don’t know how to get rid of it. Luckily, Shane has been there to pick up the slack and post some awesome things. I love when she posts and therefore I think I’m going to be lazy more. There’s a new skin maker (known to me) in town and her name is Pearl Vollmar. These new Claudia skins are really photorealistic and they come with two shades of lipstick, one natural and one either pink or red, depending on the color of the eyeshadow. They also come with a complimentary pair of eyelashes as well as three different eyebrow shapes. There are so many options that comes with the skins that I didn’t want to overwhelm you so I’m showing just a few of what I like.

Halloween in SL.

I’m a virgin when it comes to Second Life Halloween – this is my first. Thus far, it hasn’t been disappointing. I didn’t manage to get a costume I stuck with, but I did throw a few pieces together to get my final look, which I’m not blogging. I technically started playing this game in October 2006. That’s three years ago for those of you, like me, who have lost all hold on time and space, as though the world is building up to the cataclysmic meltdown as predicted by the Mayans years and years in the past. In my first couple of weeks, I met a girl called Elle Kirshner, at (I think) a club called Hooters n Shooters. She’d made friends with Clear, and since we shared the last name, for that one night we referred to each other as cousins. I look back on this fondly, as it was only hours later when my computer decided it no longer wanted to handle SL anymore. Little did I know, when I was brought back to the grid, 2 1/2 years later, Elle would be an awesome builder and owner of Second Spaces. I love her furniture. It’s so classic, and I worship the little writing desk I keep meaning to buy. In any event, Clear passed me over the Second Spaces Halloween bits and bobs to blog, which is what this is, combined with a little of my Halloween outfit and a dog that looks like my RL one! (Yay.)

Halloween SL Pride Events!

Second Pride is going to be fantastic this year. I urge everybody on the grid who believes in equal rights, to get involved in some way. I wasn’t playing the game this time, 12 months ago, and when it came to pride week, I wandered around a sea of people that walked in different circles to myself. This is what Pride is all about, but I think it would be incredibly amazing if more of us got involved, from every walk of (second) life.

I was hanging out with a friend IRL, last year. We were standing at a bus stop in London, waiting on a bus to take us both to where we had to go. We’d seen Tegan and Sara the night before, and she’d let me stay at her place. As we were talking, she said she was part of the organizational committee for Brighton Pride, telling me I had to go. (If I’d have had the money, I’d have been right there.) I missed the opportunity in a similar way to how I did when my cousin spun decks at Manchester’s, a couple if not few years in a row. Thus, I have to get involved in the SL one, because we’re still all RL people behind the avatars (like the pony one Clear gave me, that I’m wearing right now.)

Last week, Gabe Bookmite plurked about a SL Pride meeting, and I went to see if there was anything I could do. While I missed a lot of it due to being ordered to walk the dog and trying to force food down my throat, I still found it interesting, and there’ll be a follow up one tomorrow. Gabe will be able to tell you a little more about it! This weekend, with the exception of yesterday because I was too lazy to blog and missed it, Second Pride will be throwing a couple of parties to check out with some friends. Spread the word, I heard Lady Gaga will be there.

I’ve been passed so much in the last couple of days, so I had to blog them. A-BOMB’s sweet new sneakers, EmJay’s awesome new jeans; it wouldn’t be right if I kept them all to myself without sharing the juiciness, so here we go, since I have too much indigestion and exhaustion to write.
