Look of Saturday

If you need any SLURLs, don’t be afraid to ask here, Plurk or in world. I delete all my landmarks because I like to have the smallest inventory possible, but I’ll help out anybody who would like it.

PLEASE STOP WITH THE JOURNEY, JFC.

Hi. I’m your sporadic blogger Shane Kirshner, coming straight to you from the land of boredom topped with displacement. On one hand, this is anti-productive, but on the other, it gets my fingers a-goin’ to blog a few things I had handed to me over the weekend. KOSH sent me some kick ass roses for your mouth. ROSES. Yes, I feel like Carmen (no, not that one) or the Beyonce Knowles version of, from the Hip Hopera I watched in 2003. Not to mention a cute little Oaken jewelry set that I love the shape/feel of. It completely fits the form which not a lot of jewelry does on SL. Then to top it off, another one of [SHAG]‘s new hairs, “The Fallen.”

Um, here ya go.

Look of the Day.

Today is Sunday, making tomorrow Monday. I’m not a fan of Sundays, knowing tomorrow is always Monday. Same shit, different week, so I will express my distaste of the day via interpretive dance.

Joint Couple Post: Jenny and Shane.

From now until the end of the year, each week Shane and I are going to take a famous couple (whether it’s fictional or not) , go off of their style, and incorporate it into our own for a joint post. Five months ago (I can’t believe this has only been going on for five months), Shane and I were searching for names for our new blog we were working on. We tried EVERYTHING when all of a sudden the name Les Girls spoke to us. It made sense at the time. We’re a couple both IRL and in SL and like most of our bisexual and lesbian friends, we would watch and discuss a show called The L Word. At the time when the show was first on, it was innovative. It was special. I’ve never seen a show that portrayed lesbian and bisexuals in such a way before. We were lawyers, writers, athletes, in the corporate world, everywhere. For me personally, the L word gave me the ability to accept myself for who I am and not be ashamed to love anyone whether it’s a male or female. It made me realize I’m not the only one out there and it is OK to be myself and love myself. The L Word meant something to us and thus Les Girls was a perfect name to give back in a way to a show that gave to us. Jennifer Schecter and Shane McCutcheon are two of our favorites. Despite the terrible ending, Shenny was a great testimony of friendship. And so for our first couple try if you will, Shane and I are going to attempt to bring Shenny back in a positive light and ignore the whole Jenny dying thing.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

XMas Gliteratti(1)

There are exactly 50 days left until Christmas. Can you believe the year is almost up? I can’t. Personally I’m not a fan of Christmas shopping, but I love Christmas “Give me Presents now” time. I know that’s selfish but blame it on being an only child. I can’t wait until I get my first pay check in November so I can start buying giftcards (and only giftcards) for my family and friends. Gliteratti is already getting ready for the season by releasing a few goodies for Christmas. The Christmas Market sim is literally days away or it’s probably up right now because I’m kinda of slow when remembering things and the sweet Katey Coppola has released these amazing presents you can sit on for your Christmas pictures/cards as well as a brand new pose set Shane and I are modeling in the first picture. Also there’s a HUGE SALE going on at Gliteratti where most of her pose sets are for 100L. Plus her couples/group poses are 100L and her fatpacks are 50 percent off. Word on the SL street is that there’s a contest coming up and considering the last contest she had she gave over 100,000L in linden and prizes, this is going to be amazing.

Because we love Katey’s stuff and her poses cater our bodies almost perfectly (we’re little women!) We decided to put on some winter clothes, forget fall momentarily and head for winter. We’re not showcasing the clothes. It’s all about the Xmas-y poses that’s going to be coming to Gliteratti in the next few days. Shane is posing with the male gift box that has 5 poses that all you do is sit on and use the menu to shuffle through the poses, and I’m using the female version.

Lots of things today.

I haven’t been feeling good lately. I lost my mojo a little bit so everything I’ve had in my inventory that’s new has been festering and waiting for the perfect day to come out. Today was that day. There are so many good releases that’s out on the grid that goes with the old things in my inventory that it was a blast to put outfits together (or POTing as Shane likes to call it) and bring you some new interesting looks. But before I get into anything, I want to announce that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF THE NAIVE GIRL CONTEST. SEE HERE FOR DETAILS. That’s how you kill two birds with one stone. I hope you guys will enjoy the looks myself, Shane, and our friend Sephia Ellison has put together for you today, and if you’d like to exchange blog links with us, just comment! We love to see your work too!

Inspecting things is one of my favourite things. (I should call this blog ‘My Favourite Things’, and bust into a Julie Andrews number each time I write.) Honestly, though, when I heard about anti-inspect shields, beyond the horror of seeing red force fields around vain SLers (of the same ilk as myself), I was against it. I get that you don’t want to be copybotted, but I won’t even try to pretend like I know how that goes about. When I see something on somebody that I like, I’m so anti-social that I don’t really know how to start up a conversation with them – nor do I want to seem rude in openly wanting what they have – and prefer to right-click, inspect. I’ll admit it. In any event, today I was standing around with a group of friends and their friends’ friends, saw a cap I liked and jumped on the creator of the hair’s profile pronto. “Picks!” I cried. “Please have it in your picks!” And they did. It was a store called The GL, and despite not wanting to buy anything today, I TPed my ass on over there and spent almost 700L in one go. The T-shirt reading There’s Nothing To Do In SL could have been ripped from my daily rantings, and I liked multiple hairs so much I was in shop-heaven. They have great ties, great accessories, nice hairs; all of which left Shane a happy camper.

Biffle Kitty!

One of the best stores on the grid, in my opinion, is Gritty Kitty. I’ll never get enough of that hair, but I have no idea if I’ve actually said that in a past blog or not. Oh how the mind wanders. I’m still sick, sadly, but I hung out with Charlotte some after my show, and we raided the place. I mean we must have spent 1k in there combined, if not more. I bought three new hairs, she bought two, she bought the portable camera, I bought the box of records. She bought some lanterns and fawn ears, some necklaces, and I bought the boa scarf (coolest thing ever, bring on fall and winter!!) We had a good time and talked each other out of buying the Baman hair, though it’s one of the best things I’ve seen. I also raided Fri.day yesterday, as Clear blogged. My friend Clementine and I both bought the henley hoodie, and my immediate reaction was to try layer it with a jacket, which I haven’t been able to do with any other hoodie so far. It worked! With a lot of prim work, but I think it looks good all the same. I’m a fan, I gotta say. Need to buy more of their v-necks…

Here we are at the skybox while Clear was at work sleeping!
